2007 POETRY COMPETITION

A contest open to all American poets age 50 and older who are U.S.Citizens regardless of where they live or are temporarily staying throughout the world


The 2007 SPL Contest is sponsored by AMY KITCHENER'S ANGELS WITHOUT WINGS FOUNDATION (a non-profit Literary Society founded by Wanda Sue Parrott on July 31, 2001 ) and administered by Yvonne Nunn, Dean of the Bardlets Cyber-College of Poetry. Entries will be accepted as of January 1, 1007.

  • WIN STATE, NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL LAUREATE AWARDS.

  • PUBLISHED and UNPUBLISHED Poems are eligible.

  • NO LIMIT TO NUMBER OF ENTRIES THAT MAY BE SUBMITTED; each entrant must own the copyright to the works he or she is submitting.

National Senior Poet Laureate (Best Overall Poem): $300 and Certificate
National Senior Poet Laureate Runner Up: $100 and Certificate

ENTRY FEE:

$3 per Page per Poem

(1 page, $3; 2 pages, $6)

Do not include extra fee for duplicate copies of each submission.

RULES FOR ENTERING:

There is only one category: POET'S CHOICE. Any form, subject and style of presentation is allowed in this "Poet's Choice" competition, but no entry may exceed 100 lines plus title. May be rhymed or unrhymed, single spaced or double spaced, in legible type preferably 12 point in size.

HOW TO ENTER:

  1. Submit two hard copies of each poem. Keep originals, as copies will not be returned. (No electronic submissions will be accepted.)

  2. In the upper right margin of one entry, include your name, address, phone and e-mail address, if applicable. Leave the other copy blank.

  3. All winning entries might be published in GOLDEN WORDS 2007 anthology unless these words appear in capital letters above the title or first line of the poem:
    DO NOT PUBLISH THIS POEM

  4. You must own the Copyright to all work(s) which you submit; submission automatically means you grant one-time permission for publication of such work(s) if winner(s),and use of your poemin a publicity to the Governor and media of your state, and the Persident of the United States, with the exception as stated above.

  5. You retain all rights.

  6. Entries must be on plain white 8-1/2 x 11 inch paper (without borders, artwork or other notes and illustrations), typed or neatly handwritten in dark (not colored) ink. Poems may be single spaced; if a continuation page is necessary, please write the title in the upper left margin and staple it to page 1. Type size should be no smaller than 12 pt. for ease of reading by the judges, and margins should be standard 1 in. to 1-1/4 in. in order to allow judges room in which to make comments.

  7. Include one separate cover sheet (not one per poem) containing:

    I. Your legal name.

    II. Pen name by which you wish to be identified, if applicable.

    III. Your current residential address.

    IV. Your date of birth. (Entries lacking this will be disqualified.)

    V.  Your gender. (Entries lacking this info will be disqualified.)

    VI.  Current occupation, or line of work or career if retired (please indicate whether or not you are retired).

    VII.  Anything else you wish to tell us about yourself, such as number of children or grandchildren, unusual hobbies, or literary achievements. (Please do not send books or manuscripts; a photo is OK).

Include two (2) stamped #10 envelopes, one addressed to yourself and one blank.

Attach your entry-fee check or money order made out to

Notification of winners should be complete by August 31, 2007 and a list of all winners will appear in the September 2007 Newsletter THE DIPLOEMAT that will be sent to every entrant.
