Jeanne remarks,
"You must see St. Giles,
it's like the Abbeys
in their prime."
Walking carefully over
the slick, grey cobblestone square
in the misty rain,
I remember the serenity of Dryburgh Abbey.
Stepping inside the great doors,
I am awe-struck!
St. Giles
the auld High Kirk,
mother church,
glowing jewel set
in the crown of Edinburgh.
Vibrant colors of stained-glass windows
astound.
Lack of grotesque gargoyles
is gratefully noted.
Such reverence those architects,
artisans felt for God!
Surrounded by such veneration,
I am a mote of dust.
